Comfortable is the New Sexy

Plus sized womans

Summer is just around the corner and talk has already turned to getting ourselves ‘beach ready’ but coming off the back of the year we have endured, we could not care less about any of that – we just want to have some fun!

Shopping for clothes that we aspire to fit into after a month or two of detoxing just isn’t the in thing for 2021. Having been locked away for the best part of a year, we don’t care whether we have curves in all the right places or not – we just want to get out and enjoy some semblance of normality.

Get us on the beach, wearing comfortable clothes (not outfits that we have sucked ourselves into), with a cocktail in one hand and a good book in the other. That is our idea of a post-pandemic haven and we won’t have anyone tell us any differently.

Why Comfortable is the New Sexy

It is no secret that many of us have put on a little bit of lockdown weight, mainly because the gyms have been closed and we have had little motivation to get out for a run because of the stress of consuming 24/7 news. It is understandable and, no, you shouldn’t beat yourself up over it – many of us are in the same boat.

That is why we say worry not about what you are going to look like wearing your bikini, or even whether your little black dress flatters your figure. We all have a right to feel comfortable in whatever we wear and, when we feel comfortable that is when we are at our most sexy.

Comfort breeds confidence which exudes sex appeal. When we feel good, 99% of the time we look good. If you want to wear your favourite pair of denim jeans and a hooded jacket, instead of something skin-tight that you cannot wait to get home to take off, then you go for it and work it.

Live Life to its Fullest…Especially this Year

We believe that, in 2021, you get a free pass. This has been the hardest period in living memory for the large majority of us and we just need to remember to look after our mental wellbeing. Worrying about keeping up with the latest fashion trends and fitting into clothes that we don’t even actually like can be left in the past.

Once we are given the green light to get back to some kind of normality, which hopefully will be sooner rather than later based on the success of the vaccine programme, our only concern should be making the most of it. We will never take for granted the freedoms that we enjoyed way back in 2019 ever again. We are yearning to have that back and, as the finish line gets ever closer, the more we are desperate to live life to its fullest.

This period has allowed us to reflect on what we want to achieve and experience in life because it just isn’t long enough. We have been faced with the fragility of our own mortality, some more than others, throughout the pandemic.

Live, Love and Laugh

For many, that is a cringe cliché that may be hung up on the wall of a friend or relative’s house. As we come out of the pandemic, that statement has never rung more true and is exactly what we should do as soon as we can.
Live life to its fullest, love whoever you want and laugh whenever you can. Put on whatever outfit you are most comfortable in and prepare to take life by the horns once more.
