How to Balance Proper Exercise & a Good Diet During COVID-19 Quarantine

Balance Proper Exercise

The Coronavirus pandemic has plunged the entire world into a massive timeout since the start of 2020. Governments ordered their citizens to shelter at home in an attempt to slow the explosive spread of Covid-19, allowing people to be out of the house to get essential items and for essential reasons only.

We all know that there’s a direct relationship between what you eat, your level of physical activity, and your health. Your nutrition determines your physical, mental, health, and social well-being.  Your lifestyle also plays an important role in determining your health.  How active or sedentary your lifestyle is affecting your health and quality of life.

According to the Center for Disease Control or CDC, an individual should spend a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of more vigorous activities every day.  Thus, physical activity and movement are essential during the Coronavirus pandemic where most of us are currently under house quarantine or social distancing enforcement.

There’s no better time to stick to a healthy diet with home-cooked meals than being stuck at home during a pandemic.  Nutrition is as important as physical fitness.  Start the day right with exercise and eating a healthy breakfast.

Try to avoid canned foods, deli meat, chips, fried and sugary foods, and high carbs white flour products. Include lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, eggs, low-fat yogurt, healthy oils, herbs and spices, and lean meat in your diet.

If you need to sleep in and skip your exercise in the morning, compensate it with a late evening or mid-afternoon workout.  Have some discipline and priority in your exercise regimen during and after this pandemic.

Most people think that it is difficult to remain active when they are not allowed to be out of the house. But there are still many creative ways you can break some sweat and stretch at home from free YouTube channels and social media live streams.

Tabata training, Pilates, yoga, boot camp workouts, dance, and functional strength training are some of the indoor exercises that you can practice at home during a quarantine.  Outside of your home, you can hop onto one of the best city bikes to bring you around to do your shopping for essential items.  If you’re in the essential services sector, you can even cycle to work to get your dose of daily workout.

When you’re social distancing, you don’t have to get stuck at home and remain sedentary. Follow the instructions and SOP on exposure from local authorities.

If you are allowed out of the house but must practice social distancing, there are lots of great activities to do, even within your own neighborhood. Some of the outdoor activities that you can indulge in while following physical distancing include jogging, walking, and gardening. A relaxing ride on your ladies hybrid bike or men’s cruiser bike to flex your quadriceps and hamstrings in the upper leg and gastrocnemius and soleus in the calf give your legs a great workout.

Don’t have a bicycle?  Fret not. You can order the best bicycles for men or women at Six Three Zero and have it shipped to your doorstep!
