Hair loss and hair growth are both twins. one is affected by others. When we have hair loss after certain we tend to see hair growth. When have hair growth, the next step is hair loss. On an average, an adult has about 1,00,000 to 1,50,000 hair on the scalp. These hair are produced in hair follicles and is made of protein called keratin. When the follicle produce new hair cells, the old hair or keratin dead cells are being pushed out and we call it as hair loss. On a minimum we tend to loose 100 to 150 hair everyday. Hair growth goes through 3 stages:

  • Anagen : where 90-95% of the hair is present for 2-8 years.
  • Catagen : At this stage, hair stops growing and it lasts for 4-8 weeks.
  • Telogen : This is falling phase/resting phase, where hair falls out from 2-3 months. we can see about 100-150 hair falls out everyday.

Hair growth is not that easy, and still could not find the study of continuing the anagen stage for longer period.

Extra Precautions for Hair Growth

Add and use vitamins, minerals, biotin, B5, zinc, iron and vitamin D in your diet Go for essential oils. massage scalp with coconut, olive, jojoba oil Do not directly apply shampoo. dilute it with water or peppermint oil or rosemary oil Try to take lots of protein rich diet food like nuts, vegetables, milk, yogurt, etc.,

Coconut milk :

Ingredients :

  • Coconut milk : 1 fresh coconut.
  • Lemon juice : 4 tea spoon.
  • Lavender oil : 4 drops.

Prep time : 15 mins.

Process :

  • Extract milk from it.
  • Add 4 tsp of lemon and 4 drops of lavender oil.
  • Mix it properly and apply it Leave for 3-4 hours.
  • Wash off with mild shampoo.
  • This process can be repeated twice in a week.

Why is it used ?

Coconut milk is rich in iron, potassium and essential fatty acids. It regenerates, nourishes and streghtens scalp and hair. Lemon fights on the dead cells on the scalp.

Amla/Indian Gooseberry :

Ingredients :

  • Amla : 2 teaspoons of amla powder/juice.
  • Lemon juice : 2 tea spoons.

Prep time : 10 mins

Process :

  • Whisk it properly and apply on the scalp directly.
  • Gently massage on the scalp Leave it for 20-30 mins.
  • Wash off with mild shampoo.
  • This process can be done once in a week.

Why amla ?

Amla contains vitamin c and the citrus properties present in amla helps in regenerateing new hair cells, preventing and wiping off the dead cell, thus nourishing and strengthening.

Rice water:

Ingredients :

  • Rice : 2 cups.
  • Water : as per required.

Process :

  • Soak rice in water for 2 hours.
  • Strain the rice from water.
  • Apply the water on the scalp and on hair.
  • Rinse hair thoroughly with water.
  • Use shampoo.
  • This process can be done quite often.
